WHAT: CBT Skills Group (monthly)

WHEN: 6.15-7.45pm, Monday evenings (monthly)

WHERE: Glasgow city centre (off Sauchiehall Street/Bath Street)

 

DETAILS: following on from our frequent Topic and Task sessions during the weekly Eating Disorders Support Group meetings we have been offering for 6 years, we are now looking to formalise these a little and offer such on a more regular basis.

 

The CBT Skills Group will be led by one or more qualified psychotherapists teaching a new skill in CBT each month that you can then

DETAILS: we are developing a new support group for carers, family, friens and supporters of those with eating disorders. Not for those with personal experience of eating disorders as we have well-established suppport group s for this - see here. RESEARCH REQUEST

Looking for females with experience of CBT for Bulimia Nervosa

 

Kati Hallikainen is a Trainee Counselling Psychologist

at London Metropolitan University carrying out research

examining the experiences of receiving cognitive

behaviour therapy (CBT) for Bulimia Nervosa. Her aim

is to gain a more detailed understanding of these

experiences, as they may help service providers and

professionals to improve the ways in which those with the diagnosis are supported.

 

Participants would be expected to take part in private one-to-one interviews lasting approximately 1 hour. These interviews will take place in a location that is mutually agreed on. Travel expenses will be reimbursed.

 

The study has received ethical approval from the London Metropolitan University Ethics Panel.

 

WHO CAN TAKE PART:

 

  • Women aged 18-25;
  • Diagnosed with Bulimia Nervosa or EDNOS (bulimia sub-type_ in the past;
  • Have undergone 1-1 CBT therapy for Bulimia only once in the past;
  • Are no longer in therapy
  • Are able to talk about their experience of receiving this therapy;
  • Do not currently have a mental health diagnosis such as eating disorder, psychosis, severe depression or anxiety disorder;
  • Are able to travel locally for an interview

VARIOUS SUPPORT GROUPS ON MONDAY EVENINGS

 

 

WHAT: Eating Disorder Support Group (1st and 3rd Monday of each month) and Body Image Support Group (2nd Monday of each month)

WHEN: 6.15pm - 7.45pm (weekly)

WHERE: Glasgow city centre (off Sauchiehall Street/Bath Street)

 

DETAILS: for males and females, over 16, with any form of eating disorder or difficulty with food and eating. See the Support Groups and Social Clubs section for more information. All welcome! Our groups are regulated, confidential, supportive and have been going since Spring 2010!

 

We also have a specific Body Image Support Group - the FIRST and ONLY non-private support group specifically for Body Image in Scotland. This is for anyone with Body Image issues, not just for people experiencing eating disorders - we feel these are both different issues, although can overlap for some people. Everyone is welcome!

NEW! BODY IMAGE SUPPORT GROUPS

 

Did you know that there are currently no specific support groups for BODY IMAGE in Scotland? Well, there will be soon! We are launching the first support group specifically for body image issues, body shame, low body confidence etc in October 2015.

 

The information for support groups above applies to Body Image Support Groups. There are a few differences. Firstly, these will take place on a monthly basis - one Monday evening per month.

 

Secondly, Body Image Support Groups are for ANYONE who has body image problems, low body esteem, body image issues etc, regardless of whether they have problems with food and eating or not.
